The Big America Quarry (Velká Amerika) is a limestone quarry in the territory of the municipality of Mořina in the Beroun District. The size of the quarry is about 750 × 150 meters. The depth of the quarry is usually indicated to be within the range of 67 to 80. The bottom is at an elevation of 322 m. The quarry is no more used for mining; however, it has become a much-frequented destination for tourist trips.
You can park in the small car park at the Big America Quarry. Yellow marked footpath no. 6161 leads along the north quarry edge; it leads from Mořina to the east quarry end and continues from the west end to the Mexico Quarry (Mexiko) and then along the quarries of the west system in the direction of Karlštejn.
You can go round the whole quarry taking an easy way with many beautiful views. Walking slowly, you are able to make a circuit of the quarry in an hour; lovers of photography must expect to spend much more time there, for this is one of the most photogenic natural attractions in the Czech Republic.
