The folk architecture museum in Kouřim is unique in the Czech Republic. It does not focus on only one type of dwelling, but is a collection of different architectural styles from the whole of Bohemia. The buildings you can find here represent periods from the 17th to the 19th century. Should you visit, you will easily and quickly get a picture of how life was lived in Czech lands a few hundred years ago.
Architecture is not the only attraction awaiting you in Kouřim. The local team prepare a range of ethnic folk programmes the whole year round, with the aim of commemorating folk traditions which are gradually being forgotten. You can also look forward to the extensive Museum of Czech Villages project which aims to introduce visitors to life in the countryside from the early modern age right through to the middle of the 20th century.
